ASUU Sends a note of warning to the Federal Government

Asuu Send a note of warning to the Federal Government concerning the reopening of federal Universities without providing the necessary gear to guard against the pandemic disease (Covid-19).

Professor Lawan G. the Zonal Coordinator, Academic staff union of Universities Bauchi Zone. While giving his speech at a press conference in Jos. Announced that the union are not Against the resumption plan but are interested in the covid-19 safety measures that should First put in place.

He said if the Federal Government negates the advice and continue with the opening of universities without the safety measures put on ground to guard student against this horrible and deadly disease, he said the F.G will be held responsible for any student casualty.

In his words’’ And the Covid-19 has openly revealed the poor funding of our health sectors and institutions and particularly Education Sector which also shows some basic issues that needs Immediate attention and the need to resolve them as fast as possible.

He said Asuu is not of the opinion that  Universities should remain Shut down, Assu says they are not Justifying the Covid-19 nor the unions Strike to keep schools closed but the Academic Staff union of Universities is just making sure that the public sees that in all aspect the government as a whole  has failed to perform its fundamental duties to but the students, citizens and the nation.

The Asuu Zonal Coordinator, Asuu added; “The government has failed to deal with the very obvious issues due to lack of Commitment and also lack of Interest.

He also said the needed facilities/Structures critical to the Educational and health Sector does not even come into discussion and Its not even a reality yet. It’s not only to lie to the public that measures, protocols are in place to deal with the pandemic disease Covid-19 and yet there is nothing not even one facility to comply with the Protocols.

About the so called Integrated and payroll and personnel Information System (IPPIS), The Academic staff union of universities cried out over the Accountant General of the Federation’s alleged Involvement to impose payment on universities.

He said they would want to encourage the AGF to assist Nigeria and Nigerians in terming Mega-corruption in the thousand and one MDA’s that have currently been brought to light in this bad Light.

He said the union has mechanisms put in place to check and detect any form of corruption in the universities In Nigeria, It’s already in motion in the University of Lagos as at now. Click Here For More
