SHELL SCHOLARSHIP SCHEMES FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS

Education as whole, as admitted by all exposed parents and guardians, is a long-term return investment with an equally long return period or gestation period. Not that withstanding it is also one of the best legacies to give to a child, individuals, groups and society at large. This has been the belief of this great company ‘’Shell Nigeria’’ since the year 1952. In the year 2018 , about $5.9 million (N1.78 billion) was put into scholarships by The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited operated Joint Venture (SNEPCo).

Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme :2020 Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, operator of the (SPDC)Joint Venture, Announces the 10th annual NNPC/SPDC_JV Niger Delta (Postgraduate Scholarship for applicants from Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers states). The objective of the scholarship programme is to provide the Post graduate student of this universities study opportunity in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas sector/Industry, for qualifying students from these Niger Delta affiliated states.

In the Nine years of this programme, 92 students have gotten the opportunity to study at top-rated universities in the United Kingdom (UK) on full funded scholarship. For the academic year commencing September 2020, SPDC in partnership with three universities in the UK–Imperial College London; University of Leeds; and University of Aberdeen will award scholarships for one-year post-graduate M.Sc.

Eligibility

  • How To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must;
  • display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
  • Have an adequate standard of English and meet the College’s language requirement;
  • Have been offered admission to study  one of the Eligible Courses at the College. Having applied through the normal application process.
  • Already hold (or expect to hold by the time of taking up the Scholarship) a degree of an equivalent standard to a UK Upper Second-Class Honors degree.
  • Have completed their National Youth Service (NYSC) by September 2020.
  • Most be indigenes of Rivers, Imo, Delta or Bayelsa State of Nigeria, and who intends to return home to Nigeria at the end of the one-year programme of study.
  • One who haven’t had the chance of studying in the UK or any developed country.
  • Most be between the ages of 21-28 years by 30/09/2020.
  • Currently Living in Nigeria.
  • One who intends to return to Nigeria on completion of Course of study.
  • One Who has a Nigerian international passport valid till December 2020.
  • Employees, employees’ relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than Five years ago)of SPDC, Royal Dutch SHELL Group of Companies or the College will not be eligible to apply for the Scholarships.

How Application Is Done

  • Submit Your application for admission to any of the mentioned universities for any of the course of Qualification.
  • Forms for application for the scholarship will ONLY S be available on the websites of the Imperial College London, the University of Leeds and University of Aberdeen, following a formal acceptance of admission by the universities.
  • The universities will then process applications and chose candidates who are best suitable for the admission and who will attend interviews with SPDC before being considered for the final selection.
  • Completed scholarship forms must reach the universities not later than April 15, 2020.

The scholarship will cover tuition, one economy return-flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only*.
